DIY: Geometric Notice Board

I have wanted to do a home DIY on here for ages! I just had my final hand in of second year on Friday so in-between finding placements, I have a bit more free time so I can try and put more into my blog.

I've become a little bit obsessed with Home Decor recently since decorating my room. I even said to my boyfriend the other day that I think I prefer buying things for the home now instead of buying clothes, how long that will last for though I don't know.

So lets get into it shall we my first DIY for the home is a Geometric Notice Board.

In my opinion if you are a busy person and you have lots of dates in your calendar, events to go to and appointments to remember. You need a notice board in your desk area. Even if your not pinning important things to it, I love to display photos and memories to it, not only do they look cute and pretty. It gives you that bit of motivation when your working at your desk and puts a smile on your face.

You will need:

Paint: you can match it to the colour of your wall, or go crazy and do any colour you like
A ball of string
Some small nails or thin tacks
Paintbrush (optional)

First step your going to need to measure the amount of string you want, I basically just reeled off quite a bit so I knew I would have enough to make shapes out of it. To be safe cut more just incase!
Then place the string into the paint and make sure to get it fully coated.
you can use a paintbrush and coat the string with that instead on a piece of newspaper or so, so that you don't ruin the surface.

Once that is done leave to dry. I left mine over night to make sure it was fully dry enough to use without getting messy.

Next find a clear wall space in your desk area where it is appropriate to put your notice/photo wall.

Your then going to want to mark in pencil where it is you want to place the nails/tacks. I decided to place them in a triangle shape. You can place them anywhere you like to create the desired shape you want.

Then where you have pencil marked on the wall place the tacks into the wall using a hammer. Make sure it sticks out enough so that you can tie the string around them.

Then with the string tie it at the end in a knot and place it around the first nail. Bring it up and around the others. Make sure to go around in a circle around the tack- like pictured below to make sure it stays in place.

Start with a simple shape before you build up more layers. I began with the triangle.
Then placed more tacks randomly along the triangle line which can be tied around too.
Make sure you go around the other ones though to make sure that it stays securely in the shape.

To finish it off you could use paper clips, or like I did and use little wooden pegs to peg the pictures or notices to the string and voila! Thats it!
 Organised, practical and so pretty!

Hope you enjoyed this post if you did let me know if you give it a go! I'd love to see!
